We have discussed how farmers and mathematicians are the worst of racists and the cause of many of our racial problems.
Farmers and mathematicians have very little diversity and they spend very little time reaching out to oppressed African Americans and other minorities.
As President Obama once said, people like farmers “Hide behind their religion and guns and have antipathy for people who don’t look like them.” The fact that farmers represent a very small percentage of the population and supply the food for virtually everyone — and many poor people get the food free — but this doesn’t make up for their racism. White racism is the worst of all sins, and just because a farmer may work ten hours a day of hard labor to feed everyone — often at profits less than minimum wage per hour worked — this doesn’t compensate for him “having antipathy towards people who don’t look like him.”
As if the farmer’s antipathy wasn’t bad enough, when he gets done with their ten hours of hard labor, guess what the he does? He spends time with his family……all who look like him! When he takes a day or two off, does he go into nearby cities and befriend people who don’t look like him? No! He goes hunting, with guess who? Men who look like him! Then on Sunday, instead of going into town and socializing with guys who don’t look like him and who are hanging out on street corners, and him trying to find out why they don’t want to work like he does, he goes to church! He hides behind his religion with his family. You don’t get more racist than that! You can call him a “redneck” (for his neck gets red from working all day under the hot sun).
Mathematicians, unlike farmers, generally don’t either hide behind their religion nor hunt, but they do tend to hang around other nerdy intellectuals who look like themselves, and don’t hang around brothers in the hood (“the other”). And mathematicians seem more interested in solving abstract equations than solving racial problems such as crime, prison overpopulation, and out of wedlock births. And they seem to have little desire to pay reparations for how badly they treated African Americans for the last 400 years.
A new racist
I recently met a white woman who just earned a certification in Physical Therapy. After our conversation I concluded that perhaps we could add Physical Therapists to the list of the “worst racists in the world.” For instance, how many African American Physical Therapists are there?
This woman was a single mother with two children. At age 31 she had been working in a low paying job and decided she needed to make more money. She was always interested in health and in helping people, so she thought she should try to become a Physical Therapist. She heard they made a good salary, had job security, and was very helpful to patients.
She entered a local college. Her parents helped her out with childcare. She worked full time and went to school full time for three years, taking difficult scientific, mathematical, and statistical research courses. She maintained an average of over 3.5.
Then she applied to a Physical Therapy program. Not only did this school require a GPS average of over 3.5, but also they interviewed only those students with the highest scores on the GRE, the standard test for many graduate schools. The prospective students also had rigorous interview questions, where the schools looked for the students who would make the best Physical Therapists. The school was highly competitive. It only accepted 90 students out of 3,000 applicants. This woman got accepted. Then she endured three more years of grueling study, all nighters, and taking care of her kids. (She didn’t work the last three years and lived off her savings).
Finally she graduated. She immediately got a high paying job with job security.
But her graduating class had virtually no African Americans and she didn’t see many African Americans in hospitals and clinics she visited. Now, why was that? For sure, it doesn’t get any more racist and oppressive than this.
Surely, the government should establish some program where the results in the Physical Therapy field would have more diversity. And certainly the hospitals and clinics would serve patients if they had more diversity with the Physical Therapists. Perhaps the government should have given this woman’s place in the school to a person of color with less GPA and GRE scores (since both of these scores are racist since they don’t have equal racial diversity in their outcomes). Even better, perhaps her place should have been given to a foreign African student.
Certainly the only reason why there aren’t more African American Physical Therapists is the oppressive nature of the whole educational, economic, and health systems in America, as well as the racism of the people in those systems.
Below are some possible policies that could help the goal of diversity in the Physical Therapy field and reduce the obvious racism:
Stop the oppression of minority students. Lift the obvious restrictions of minorities to study math and science in all levels of education. Allow their repressed love for math and science to express itself. Stop encouraging students of color to have fun in school and only excel in subjects like athletics, communication, and social sciences. Instead encourage their natural desires to study math and science.
Revise all academic curriculums in colleges and Physical Therapy schools until there are equal outcomes in grades for people of all races.
Understand that the subjects of science and math are racist and biased against people of color. They were largely created by dead white men — the oppressors of civilization.
Revise the entrance examinations for Physical Therapy schools. Keep revising the entrance exams until they have equal results for all races. Tests with any other outcome have been proven by our courts to be racist.
Understand that “hard work” is a racist, white, European, Protestant ethic. Design Physical Therapy courses so that all racial groups get equal passing grades regardless of how much studying they do. Physical Therapy programs must be culturally relative. Educators must understand that different cultures have different desires to do hard work. This has nothing to do with outcomes. Hard work has no correlation with achievement. It has nothing to do with the quality of care of patients.
If these policies are enacted we will have the Physical Therapists in hospitals, clinics, and private practice “look like America.” Not only will this diversity help minorities, but these policies will also make better quality of care. Patients will be in better health.
Diversity must be the priority in all education and employment. It is the highest virtue. Conversely, the absence of diversity is racist, oppressive, destructive and evil
